Once again, Big Wood was alive this weekend with shacks and ice fisherman. Even with the warmer temps causing rough walking out on the snow, they ventured on.
Month: February 2022
Another snowy week.
The snow has been falling off and on all week. This made for a pretty photo the pother night. Thanks Kelly for sharing this. If the snow keeps up our friend, Ralph the Moose is not going to be seen from the road anymore.
Rate adjustment 22
In 2020, just at the beginning of the Pandemic we did a slight rate increase. In part, it was to be competitive with other accommodations in the area. Once the issues and guidelines for the Pandemic started, we found our cost to maintain the cabins increased too.
This year, as we are sure everyone has noticed, the price of everything has gone up over the past 2 years: food, gas, fuel for our homes, housing, etc.. Jackman resident and Businesses have the same cost increase. CMP customers can understand this too.
So again, we raised our base rates but keeping our per person rate lower so still, the more people in a cabin, the less cost per person.
The new rates are listed on the website rates tab and will be in effect February 11th, 2022 for any new reservations made starting May 1st. If you have made reservations for the upcoming year before this date, the old rates, of course, will be honored.
We do hope to offer various discounts throughout the year. such as: “March Madness”; “couples discount” – if a couple, meaning you can share the same bed, rents a large cabin for 6, we will take X amount off; If one person rents a small cabin, some discount; Active duty service families, discount. We will not accept plastic for these discounts
Beside our weekly discount, our Deer Season discount, and our mid week winter discount, which is standard, all other discounts will be posted here on the blog. When you make your reservation or check in, you will need to tell us you saw the discount on our blog to benefit from these extra discounts.
February 2022 Trail Report
Boy it has been a cold winter so far this year. This is keeping the good snow on the trails.
I still do not think we have had the usual amounts of snowfall last month but so far the trails are all in good condition down to Parlin, over to Rockwood, up to Pittston and to the border.
This was on the Jan 28th, before the Nor’easter.
And this one was after the storm.
Yesterday and into the night, we did get about another 5-8 inches of snow here in town. It was difficult to measure it as again, the winds kept it moving. At least for us, it was an all snow event.
Today it is still cold but the skies are blue and the sun is shining. It should be a good week to ride.
As for riding the lakes, use extreme caution. Even though most of Big Wood is quite frozen, there are reports of slush pockets at the southern end (near River outlet) as well as snow drifts. Rockwood is also reporting issues on Moosehaed,. Please stay on Marked trails.
We appreciate the groomers of the Border Riders Club as well as surrounding clubs that make our trails in the region some of the best. Please join and support the clubs where you ride.
