Ride a bike from Quebec to Florida?

Last evening, Carol and Dick “rolled” in to Cozy Cove Cabins on their bikes in need of a good nights rest. Their story: They flew to Quebec City from Northern California with only their bikes, a tent, I think a sleeping bag, and a few odds and ends as their luggage. Their goal is to bike to Florida for Thanksgiving. They say they did this twice before but I am not exactly sure if it is the same trip or just another LONG bike ride.

They headed out this morning and what you see in the picture above is all they are going with. What an incredible couple! I wish they could have spent more time here.
Anyhow, they did start a Blog to record their trip. Stop in and visit them and see where they are next at www.cbourne66.wordpress.com.

If you add a comment to their blog, tell them we said HI ❗

2nd Annual Luau 2008

The Mullen group planned their 2nd annual luau at Cozy Cove Cabins last night. The decor included decorating the pine tree with lei-s and a pineapple.

Each couple then sat in chairs in front of the tree to pose for a “cruise” type portrait. How silly we were 🙂
Below is a group shot taken with a camera timer. OOPS ❗ I forgot to set the flash 🙁 Who can name the people in the picture ❓ The photo with the flash will be posted next week

Are those real eagles?

Lisa, Joe and their children spent their summer vacation here last week and one day, took a tour of the lake on a boat. What an incredible sight they saw.

Lisa thought these were mom and dad eagles but they almost look brown to me. Either way, beautiful!

The eagle-s have landed!

August 2008 QUOTES from our Guests

August 9
We really enjoyed our time here in Zakopane-what a perfect choice for our Polish heritage:!: It was nice and cozy. We particularly go a kick out of the little picture of the pope ❗ 😀 Although we wish we could-ve seen a bit more sun, watching all the little members of the family play in the mud made the NON STOP RAIN a bit more tolerable. Saw a couple coyotes and a moose. Also got up to Canada for a day. Can-t wait to return.

August 17 – I believe this was written Cate?
For half of the week it was rainy, the other half it was sunny. We went looking for moose. We saw 15 of them. @ of them were baby-s. We went trout fishing and caught 8 trout are biggest was 8 inches. We also caught crayfish and eat them too. We love you Tami and Steve ❗

We-re getting ready to leave. It has been a wonderful few days in Jackman. We came here to get away from the city and spend time together before college starts. I made Emily breakfast and she made me dinner. I definitely wish it was a longer stay but it was nice to get away from everything.

We had spent the day in Quebec and were hoping to find a cabin on the water. As we pulled into town we asked a man and he suggested Cozy Cove Cabins. We were delighted to find you. We have stayed in many cabins during our 45 years of marriage and have found yours truly delightful:!: At sunset we sat on the shore and enjoyed the view along with the breeze. You have a great place. If I lived here I would never want to leave.Thank you for your hospitality ❗

Thank you for the nice stay. We were not in the camp much but the cabin was nice. We had a great time on the ATV trails. We kept taking a wrong turn but each time we turned around to go the other way, we saw something. First we saw a bear at the bottom of a hill. Then we had to turn around on Fish Pond Trail because of deep water, we jumped a mother moose and calf. Good luck with your remod4eling. What you have done is great. Take Care ❗

ATV Rentals a big success!

Last week we had a family here who one day, rented ATVs at Maxx-s ATV Rentals in town. Harry had much to say about this including what a great time they had riding in the area. “We have 2 quads of our own but I don-t think I could ride every day and to have that option to rent them was great. It was well worth the money. To rent them here saved us gas money plus the hassle of towing our own from NY and registration fees. I think if we knew we would be riding even 3-4 days during our week stay, maybe having our own would have been worth it but to only go out twice this week, the rental option is fantastic. Kevin has so many ideas for ATVing in the area. We wish him the best of luck”

We have heard this before from guests who either do not own quads or simply did not bring their own because they were only going to be here 2 days. Others who rented had never ridden before and it was a great opportunity to try it plus see the incredible scenery that you cannot see with only 2 wheels.

So if in Jackman, call Kevin at Maxx-s Rentals and give ATV riding a try. If you are a guest at Cozy Cove Cabins, ask him about exclusive discounts offered to our guests.

Don-t forget, this weekend is the ATV Rodeo sponsored by the Border Riders Club and ATV rentals will be available at the event.

Paddle boat adrift!

As with all of Maine, the waters in Jackman have risen well beyond what has been seen in August in MANY years.
It has rained every day this week and daily, we kept an eye on our dock and the boats. This morning about 7, a guest told me that our purple paddle boat was half in the lake. TO be honest, I thought he just meant it was still on shore but hanging halfway in the water. I went down to the shore and saw that the paddle boat was truly half way in the lake:o I went back home to tell Steve and when we got back out, the poor thing had drifted almost to the island. 😯

The little white speck by the island on the picture above is the paddle boat. “No fear little boat, Steve is to the rescue” 😆

All is well with Cozy Cove Cabins boats. They are safe and sound…today at least.

MORE INCREDIBLE SUNSETS at Cozy Cove Cabins

We always boast about the Incredible Sunsets we have here at Cozy Cove Cabins and on July 27th, was another one of those nights.

This is a shot Leeanne took (one of our guests) as the sun was setting.

jackman-blog-ccc

Then as the sun went away behind the mountains, there was an incredible pink hue cast over the sky and the waters on Big Wood lake. This first one is again, from Leeanne from our shoreline and the next photo is the one I took from our deck.
