Hummingbirds

Sitting out on our deck in the morning with coffee or in the evening to watch the sun fade away are my most favorites times of the day. The birds that enjoy our trees, feeders, and bird houses are a joy to watch and hearing the loons or the "chirpees" in the evening is simply so relaxing.
We have tomato plants in pots on our deck next to the hummingbird feeder. They often land on the cage to rest their weary wings. Below is a shot of one of them doing just that.

But last night, for the first time, as he/she was resting, I saw its little skinny tongue come out
Of course, I knew they had a tongue but I never saw it before since they always move so fast. It was almost like he was sticking out its tongue and taunting me
saying "I know you do not have your camera so na na na na na
I then ran in to get my camera. I waited there for about 30 minutes and even though they fed and rested, they never did the tongue thing again. "Na na na na na
