Email replies

Last year, there were some problems with my email communications being blocked by various services. (Comcast etc)  We consistently told people that if they did not receive their confirmation email, to check their spam box. This was usually where they were.  We finally resolved that problem.

This year, it is Yahoo. If you have a Yahoo account, my replies to you are probably going into your spam or junk box. SO if you want to receive a reply or a confirmation from us, please add info@cozycovecabins.com and tami@cozycovecabins.com to your contact list.  And just check your spam or junk mail box occasionally.  We are not the only ones getting spammed by Yahoo.  I check mine once a week and luckily, I do catch some important emails.

I always reply to any emails we get within 24hours. So please, if you have not heard back from me and there is no reply in your inbox or spam box, just give us a call.

Ice out was only 5 days prior to taking this photo and look how much the water is receding!  Today, the 20th, the lake water is beyond the rocks and all that is left are some puddles.   There is rain in the forecast so in the next few days, it could change again.  Mother nature is at work here.

We almost have a lawn again. Looking back to years prior, we never even saw the bottom yard until late May.

Ice Out Contest 2021

The Northland also does an ice out contest and they called for                              yesterday, April 13 at 845 AM. Yes this is really early for Ice out.

We can all try again next year.

Today is April 3rd, 2021 and below is the most recent cam shot of Big Wood.  You can see the lake has risen with the water is our bottom yard. The grumbling under the ice has started: so I think the ice is getting thinner and water is moving, or Big Woody is getting restless.

That is a snapshot of Big Wood this morning from our webcam. (March 8th)

It is a beautiful sunny but very cold morning here in Jackman.  Yesterday was a moving off the ice day for many ice shacks though. Warmer temps are supposed to happen later this week, which is why I assume the shacks are moving out. Once it starts getting slushy out there, they are difficult to slide off.

Truly, the date is a guess in every sense. But keep in mind, 2020 was a very dry year. And this winter did not produce as much snow as we have in the past. Does that mean less snow & ice to melt, warmer spring, earlier ice out?  Who knows?

SO with all of that being said, it is about time to start with the guessing for this years ICE OUT CONTEST!

So how this works:
1. Choose your date and time that you think the ice will go out on Big Wood. Choosing a time is helpful if multiple people choose the same date.  The person closest to the time will win.

2. Add a comment to this post with your best guess. A comment on Facebook will not be entered. We can only accept one entry per person/email.

3. The deadline to post your vote this year is 8am on April 10th, 2020. Watch our webcam at www.cozycovecabins.com for signs of change.

The winning date will be what the Town of Jackman records as the ice out date and time for 2021.

The winner will get 50% off one night when they stay with us 2 or more days or 1 full night free if they stay 4 or more days. This discount will expire December 31, 2021.  New this year, you will also win a Cozy Cove Cabins hoodie.

Please Note: Only one discount permitted per stay at Cozy Cove Cabins and our same discount rules apply. (payment by check or cash, cabin minimum must be met)

HOW TO ADD A COMMENT

To add a comment to the blog for the first time, you do need to register and be approved in order to add comments to any post.  If you posted before, use that same password. Unless you forgot it!

It really is simple:

Click on register at the top right of Blog Page. Follow directions using the code ccc2017 when asked. Use a simple PW so you do not forget it later(or next year). You will then get an email to confirm you are who you are, then I approve that you are not a robot or a “nonAmerican” and you are good to go.

After this process, you will need to login to comment but you will not have to wait for me to approve you. Unless of course you forgot your password from before, then you may have to re-register. So don’t forget your password.

Spring is coming n Jackman

This is the morning snapshot from our webcam.  The ice is getting darker every day. If you have not made your ice out guess yet or posted your ice out date and want to change it, you have 2 more days.   I think it will be sooner than later.  I am going with April 21st (my birthday)

So get your poles ready for some spring fishing.  Open water is coming.

Another sign of spring is the bird activity. This morning, I heard my favorite, the chickadee, singing. I am sure they make various calls all winter but it is their song that attracts me to listen and reply.

With spring on the horizon, we will start to hear and see many other birds either nesting or migrating through.   Be sure to look up once in awhile when exploring.

The ducks, I think they are Common Merganser, have also been tootling around in our “yard” which is a mini pond right now. I hear them quacking at all hours of the night and day. They better be careful as I also saw a pretty big minks the other day by the lakeside cabins.
