High water 2018

Ice out was May 5th this year and with that came the wind and leaving us with really high waters.  This photo was taken on today while standing in front of the deck of Cabin 5, Our Best Western.

The water does not seem to want to go away?   Clean up this year is not going to be fun.

Ice Out Contest 2018

May 7, 2018

The official ice out date this year is May 5th at 4:30 AM. With all the wind we had on the 4th, some think it may have gone out sooner but no one was awake in the wee hours of the morning.  I do not believe we have a winner this year, except for me.  LOL

The water levels are still very high.

I am a little late this year getting the contest up and running.  Have no fear, you have plenty of time to get you vote in. We have had a really cold winter this year and right now, there is at least 3 feet of ice out there on Big Wood.

The ice out date last year was April 29th.

SO let the guessing begin.

So how this will work:
Choose your date and time then add your guess to a comment on this post.  Including the time is a good thing in case multiple people choose the same dates.  If the case, the person closest to the time will win. We can only accept one entry per person.

The winning date will be what the Town of Jackman records as the ice out date and time for 2018.
The winner will get 50% off one night when they stay with us 2 or more days or 1 full night free if they stay 4 or more days. This discount will expire December 31, 2018.

The deadline to post your vote this year is 8am on April 20th, 2017.

Please Note: Only one discount permitted per stay at Cozy Cove Cabins and our same discount rules apply. (payment by check or cash, cabin minimum must be met)

Watch our webcam at www.cozycovecabins.com for signs of change.

Open water fishing 2018

After intense winds that started Friday, the ice on Big Wood finally went out, except for in our yard, Saturday morning May 5th. As for our ice out contest, I will wait to announce the winner as the official day may be the evening of the 4th.

With the snow melt and a couple big storms, the lake water is very high right now. It is almost touching the steps we have between cabins 3 and 4.  With that being said, we may not get our dock out until the 4th of July. We hope someone opens the gates soon.

This, in my humble opinion, is the best time for spring fishing.   The salmon are hungry and they seems to bit more. You do have to be a little more cautious boating though as it is harder to determine the shoreline.

Hope to see you soon.
