WI-FI Survey

We are considering to offer wi-fi at our cabins. So we want you, our guests or potential guests, to decide if this is a necessary option to have.

First though, let us give our thoughts on this. The world today is so involved in the internet, computer games, laptops, cell phones…all a good thing in the fast paced world of life. Without the internet, there are many things I myself could not purchase… 🙂 or do way up here where the closest major store is 72 miles away.

But we also think one of the charms of coming up to Jackman for a holiday or get away is the fact that you are getting away from it all…leaving the crowds behind…getting back to how life should be…etc. Most love this aspect of being here because they spend time with their children: Kids play games with the parents instead of looking at a computer all day; You get outside and hike or swim or sled and do not have to be bothered with emails all day long.

On the other hand, some business owners, especially, do need to check in on their businesses. We can understand that too. But consider, there is a place in town to be able to do that if necessary. Pop into Jackman Java, order a coffee or an ice cream and check your emails. It gives her business and you do what you need to do and still able to spend the time with friends and family.

Those are our thoughts.

The cost to have this available is not the issue or a problem. So if a majority of people reply and think this is a necessary amenity, we will be glad to make this available to our guests for 2009.

Thanks for your help on this.

ITS 89 South Trail conditions are very good.

ITS 88 to Rockwood Conditions are still good, reports are coming in favorable. Just watch for water holes.

Last evening, we spoke to some of our guests and they all agreed that the trails “are incredible”. There was a lot of action out on Big Wood as riders seemed to feel the need for speed out on the ice, Ice fisherman were trying for that “big one” and the rest of us sat on the mounds of snow by our camps or on the decks just watching it all, talking about the riding of the day. What a great evening it was…temperature about 5, no wind, and what an incredible sunset.
Here is a few shots I got:

2009 Ice Fishing Season open on Big Wood

Today, the ice fishing season opened for Big Wood Lake and if you read my latest weather update…it is darn cold out there. But those dedicated fisherman were still battling the weather to get their catch. Some rented ice shacks from our neighbor, some did not. I was going to try to get some snapshots of them but it was just too cold for me and my camera. I guess I am just not as crazy as them 😆
Tomorrow should be a better day.

Cabin 5 Preview January 1

and a bit about it from our first guests, Jennifer and John who wrote the following in our journal.

“Thank you so much for letting us be the 1st to stay in your new cabin. We had a wonderful time. The camp is beautiful:!: We loved the layout and colors. Everything worked great. The whirlpool was heaven after a long day of riding ❗ The music and fluffy towels are a nice touch. We had 2 cold but excellent days of riding and a fun time at the Northland for New Years….”

BTW, We still have not chosen a name yet

Murphy certainly knows it-s cold ❗ It did not take long for her to be out and exposed before the paws starting coming up…first one then the other then she was heading toward the door. Poor baby. She wants so much to be out there playing but her little paws are freezing. Time to get her mucklucks out.
